Day 1: Ha Noi - Vu Linh, 180 km, 5 hours ride

Leaving Ha Noi and breaking out of the delta plains, we pass through endless limestone karts scenery and extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads. Lunch in Viet Tri town. Arrive in Vu Linh in late afternoon, here we stay overnight with friends of the Dao's minority in a traditional stilt house.

Day 2: Vu Linh - Ba Be National Park, 200km 7 hours ride

We have two options : one takes us around the very end of the Song Gam mountain range, enjoying good riding on winding sealed mountain roads; the other crosses over the very end of the range and takes us through untarnished rain forest on challenging, rocky road. The Song Gam mountain range is the main range of northeast Vietnam. From Tuyen Quang we continue on sealed road through renowned tea growing areas, where the hillsides are literally covered in plantations, From here it’s a short ride to the edge of Ba Be Lake, Overnight home-stay in the Tay's family.

Day 3: Ba Be Lake - Bac Kan 70km
After breakfast, we have 20 minutes ride up north to visit a very nice local market. Return to the village and from there we will have 2 hr boat trip to visit the Ba Be Lake. After lunch, we ride to Bac Kan, 2 hr ride. Arrive in Bac Kan in the late afternoon. Dinner and night at hotel.

Day 4: Bac Kan - Ha Noi 200km

Leaving Bac Kan, we head south to go back to Hanoi, we will take the small paved road to avoid the busy traffic. Lunch on route. Arrive in Hanoi in the afternoon. Tour ends.

Ba Be Lake is a place with some of the most wonderful sceneres in Vietnam. The lake is in Ba Be National Park, which is about 250km North of Hanoi. It is near Bo Lu and Pac Ngoi villages, the home of Tay ethnic people.
Ba Be Lake is on a limestone mountain, at a height of 150m above sea level. As it looks similar to Halong Bay, the lake is also called "Halong Bay on the mountain." It has a water surface area of 500ha. It is more than 8km long, nearly 2km at its widest, and 20-35m deep. The lake is made up of three river branches - Pe Lam, Pe Lu and Pe Leng.

Day 1: Ha Noi - Ba Be 250Km/7hours (L, D)

After breakfast we depart Hanoi for We leave Hanoi at 8:00 am and follow the National road #3 to Thai Nguyen. On arrival, we have lunch in a local restaurant. Continuing on your trip to Ba Be National Park. Refresh with a short walk in the afternoon around the park and even go swimming in the nearby lake (depends on the weather condition).Have dinner in a local restaurant in Ba Be.

Day 2: Ba Be Lake (B, L, D)

This morning we take a boat cruising on the lake to discover the beauty of the lake and the diversity of fauna and flora living on the lake and visit nearby tourist places in the national park such as Tien Pond, Po Gia Mai Island, Puong Cave and Dau Dang Waterfall. If they visit at the time of Long Tong Festival on the 10th and 11th days of the first lunar month, they can see traditional games, performances of martial arts, and the horn dance of Tay, Dao, Mong, Nung and Kinh tribal groups.
Get back to the village for lunch and a short break. In the afternoon, we do a soft trek to Ba Be National park covering more than 23,000 hectares, this beautiful region is a tropical rainforest area with over 410 named plant species and 300 wildlife species. Get back to the home stay for dinner and free at leisure.

Overnight in home-stay in Ba Be.

Day 3: Ba Be - Ha Noi (250Km/7hours) (B, L)

This morning we ride for a couple of hours around the park and take advantages of the morning's fresh air in the peaceful village. Have lunch in a local restaurant before heading back to Hanoi.

Arrive Hanoi around 5:00 pm. The trip ends.

Day 1: Ha Noi - Mai Chau (160Km/4 hours)


Once out of the Red River Delta, which brims with traditional farming activity, we pass through limestone monoliths and into foothills populated by Muong people. We head straight at the main range before breaching a high and beautiful forested pass, which descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau where we spend the night with friends in a traditional Thai stilt house in Pom Coong village

Day 2: Mai Chau - Son La (180Km/6 hours)

On good road looking high over distant mountains we head up into a forested region populated by H'mong people before descending into a mountainous tea-growing region. Soon after we follow a long valley floor covered in a sea of rice surrounded by Black Thai villages all the way to Son La with its bargain-filled market.

Day 3: Son La - Than Uyen: (160Km/6 hours)

After breakfast, we keep riding on road #6 to Tuan Giao with beautiful and stunning landscape along the way include stop to visit Black Thai village on the off bitten track where we will ride through dark cave to get there. Lunch in Tuan Giao, we then turn to the road 279 to Than Uyen. We will have great experience of driving while ride up the steep winding passes through the forests and terraced rice fields along the road, short break on the Pa Uon Bridge to take in surrounding landscape.

Day 4: Than Uyen - Sapa ( 130km/4 hours)


The road follows the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range and winds through tea plantations and rice terraces as it hugs the Nam Ma River. This stunning valley is dotted with Tay, Dzao and H'mong hill tribe villages. Over the 1,900 meter Tram Ton Pass to Sa Pa located in the breathtaking Hoang Lien Son Mountains. Arrive Sapa in the afternoon

Day 5: Sapa - Bac Ha - Xi Man ( 160 km/5 hours )

After breakfast, we ride down to Lao Cai - It is center of Lao Cai province which is next to the international border with China, where important trading in North happens - Have a short break at border, before we head to Bac Ha town - Bac Ha is well-know for the century-old colorful market, of real mountainous people including the Dzao and the Flower H'Mong. The market only opens on Sunday morning- . We then continue up north to Ximan via a small trail that has, a deep impressive scenery, while riding through forest, take a short break at Laochai village, on top of the mountain to have a look at the overview of Chay river which is high up and hidden in the clouds. There are particularly interesting tracks in this area and well none known is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Vietnam.

Day 6: Xi Man - Ha Giang ( 150 km/6 hours)

Breakfast will be served at a local restaurant near by our hotel. We will visit a local market in the morning, where we have the chance, to meet minorities groups such as the Dzao, Nung, Flower H'mong...and also not forgetting to take some memorable pictures and buy some souvenirs. The roads go through some mountain passes but there are lots of tortuous roads, which gives a great opportunity, to test your riding skills. After lunch in Tan Quang. the last 50 km to Ha Giang becomes of ease on road No 2. If the time permits, we can visit Thanh Ha to relax and enjoy the hot springs.

Day 7: Ha Giang - Dong Van ( 150 km/6 hours)

After obtaining a visit permit at immigration office in Ha Giang. We then continue our trip exploring through the area of Quang Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van which is famous for pictures opportunities of the natural, impressive and magnificent landscape. The local people living here dedicated to working long hard hours but overcome all difficulties, on rocky farm land in a harsh environment. They are very friendly out going people and live a happy life without the modern day necessities. We will have a short break at an information coffee shop where we can climb up a set of stairs to take in a spectacular view point of Quang Ba. After lunch at Yen Minh town, we will visit Pho Bang, which was built many centuries ago and features multi-storey houses made of clay bricks and tiled roofs. In the area visit the infamous Vuong Palace- H'mong family of high rank during French colonial rule, Vuong Chi Sinh, who was purported to be the H'mong King in Vietnam. This palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to its mixed style of European and Chinese architecture. Then we arrive in Dong Van.

Day 8: Dong Van - Meo vac - Bao Lac ( 120 km/4 hours)

Climb over the Ma Pi Leng Pass, from which we can see andenjoy beautiful scenery overlooking the Nho Que River before going down to Meo Vac.
We cross the wild regions of the mythical province of Ha Giang. Stop for the night at Bao Lac, the ethnic crossroad of Northeast Vietnam. Many other ethnic groups on the two sides of the border meet at the market every Sunday.

Day 9: Bao Lac - Ba Be ( 120 km/4 hours)
Few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but many curves. We can stop a lot. All together, stop for drinks and food it should be an 8-hour journey. We spend the night in the traditional stilt house of Tay minority people.

Day 10: Ba Be ( Visit and relax 

Easy boating on the lake and river. Go to market (if it is the day you arrive). Stop at waterfall, beautiful swimming ng pirate, the chef of Dau Dang waterfall where we enjoy dinner. Down the waterfall, we could visit the village and a small school. We propose to stay in the stilt house of forest guards.

Day 11: Ba Be - Ha Noi ( 220 km/7 hours)

The last day, an easy ride 220kms through Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan, and Vinh Yen provinces on a small road with little traffic. We arrival Hanoi around 5 Pm. Tour the end

Day 3: Ba Be - Quang Hoa 170km 6hr ride.

We leave Ba Be by a fantastic mountainous road, leading us along scattering high limestone formations and heavily forested hills. Further north is Cao Bang province, a remote area on the border with China. Cao Bang is sparsely populated. It has several ethnic communities in villages hardly affected by tourism. Cao Bang is famous for its graceful mountains, grottos and streams. Arrive in Quang Hoa in Late after noon, Overnight in family of the Nung's peoples.

Day 4: Quang Hoa - Lang Son. 160km 5 hr ride.


Today we travel back in time - we go back to Indochina by driving the famous Colonial Road No. 4, where we pass villages like Dong Khe and That Khe. This place is well-known for its countless bloody fights during the 1950s between Viet Minh and the French Force. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Lang Son city and discover the central market. This market offers divers Chinese products as Lang Son is the trade-gateway between China and Viet Nam. Before checking in our hotel in Lang Son, we bring an interesting visit to Tam Thanh and Nhi Thanh grottos.

Day 5: Lang Son - Ha long Bay.180km 4hr ride.

Ride to Halong bay through the lush of Red River vegetation. Arrival Halong bay pier and check-in registration, board our boat for a stunning cruise amongst towering limestone back while enjoying lunch on board. The cruise will take you by exotic islets with shapes of Dog, Incense Urn, Sail, Fighting Cocks, which are naturally formed by process of erosion between the see water and limestone mountains. Get back to Halong City, Overnight at Hotel.

Day 6: Halong Bay - Ha Noi, 170km 4hr ride.

A new day wake you up with joys and emotions in an early morning for watching sunrise on sea. We ride back to Hanoi by taking many trails going through the red river Delta. Arrive in Hanoi by 5 pm, tour ends.

Day 1: Hanoi - Na Khan ~180 km ~8 h
Quite a long drive but easy (early departure is better) from Hanoi to Na Khan 180 km. The road is sealed all the way until Bac Kan and the last part from Bac Kan to Na Khan is wild and little bumpy. Na Khan is a Tay village, lost in the middle of the primitive forest. Mr. Lo, the chef of the village will welcome us in his house.

Day 2: Na Khan - Ba Be ~50 km ~2 h

Short drive from Na Khan to Ba Be on bumpy road. Lunch at our captain's house (Mr. Dang, we call him Zi Dang). Easy boating on the lake and river. Go to market (if it is the day you arrive). Stop at waterfall, beautiful swim…Ong pirate, the chef of Dau Dang waterfall where we enjoy dinner. Down the waterfall, we could visit the village and a small school (only few pupils during the summer). Spend the night in our friend's stilt house.

Day 3: Ba Be - Quang Hoa ~170 km ~8 h

Cross Ba Be lake to come back to our captain's house. Beautiful ride up to Cao Bang province. Few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but many curves. We can stop a lot. All together, stop for drinks and food it should be an 8-hour journey. Then ride 1 more hour to reach the beautiful village of Quang Hoa, in the middle of a mountain cirque. This is the territory of Nung An people. Spend the night in our friend's house.

Day 4: Quang Hoa (options) ~100 km ~2 h (or ~30 km ~1 h)
Option 1

Having obtained permission from the border police we make our way through spectacular scenery to Vietnam's most impressive waterfalls. Weather permitting we can swim right up to where the 50 m high falls hit the river.

Option 2
Na Tau is a completely unknown area that we propose to discover it by raft and motorbike. Rivers and waterfalls everywhere are extremely beautiful and wild. It is only 15 km from Quang Hoa.
Day 5: Quang Hoa - Hanoi ~300 km ~9 h
Ride from Quang Hoa to Hanoi via Lang Son. Lunch in Lang Son. The road is asphalted almost of the way and it takes 9 hours to ride back to Hanoi.

Day 1: Hanoi - Ba Be Lake ~240 km (L, D)
07:30 am at your hotel. Before we kick off, we will spend about 30 minutes to check over the bikes and insure that we have all necessary tools and equipment to guarantee maximum fun. Today, there is not much to see en route, although this will be a great opportunity for you to test your biking abilities and get a feel for your bike (Russian Minsk). We will drive through Thai Nguyen city, keep moving through many other timeless villages linked to the road, which is the main artery of trade between the Northeast region and the Hanoi Capital.

This is our first glimpse of rural Vietnam and sets the tone for the days ahead. Lunch on the way. Depending on traffic conditions, we will arrive at Ba Be Lake about midday. What is more to take a local boat trip to explore one part of Ba Be Lakes, visit Goa & An Ma island then more cruise to the village. After arriving at our home stay in Bo Lu village, you are welcome by the host family of Tay people. Free time then to have shower, walk around the village. Dinner and overnight in Ba Be.

Day 2: Ba Be - Tinh Tuc - Bao Lac ~ 178km (B, L, D)

Today, with a medium drive with more slopes but we will soon be enjoying the wonderful sightseeing of mountain, riding through villages. Lunch will be served on the way at a local restaurant then continue our journey to Bao Lac. Arrival at the town in the late afternoon. Check in hotel and free on your own leisure to have shower and rest. Dinner and stay overnight in Bao Lac.

Day 3: Bao Lac - Meo Vac - Dong Van ~ 96 km (B. L, D)



After breakfast, we leave Meo Vac to Ha Giang. Remember to prepare your camera with lots of films for today since we will be hitting the Heaven – a more beautiful place, here we are surrounded by many rocks of all shapes and sizes, chances to see and even visit the traditional houses of the hill tribes here.
The scenic route climbs over a pass, and then we descend down to Meo Vac valley, a beautiful valley situated very close to Chinese border. Have lunch in Meo Vac then we take time to climb over the Ma Pi Leng Pass where we can enjoy beautiful mountain ranges and the the Nho Que river – just an amazing place to be! We keep hitting the zigzag roads to Dong Van, visiting these remote areas, we will witness how hard the locals struggle with their environment for survival and development. We will stay in town to get the chances to visit the ancient streets with old houses of the H’mong made of clay bricks and tile roofs, built centuries ago. Sleep in Dong Van town.

Day 4: Dong Van - Yen Minh - Quan Ba - Ha Giang ~ 150 km (B, L, D)


A leisurely drive from Dong Van, back to Yen Minh & Quan Ba, this day will make your itinerary a good pace, not in a rush. We will visit the infamous Vuong Palace, a H'mong family of high rank during French colonial rule - this palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to its mixed style of European and Chinese architecture. We then hit the road back to Quan Ba and down hill to Ha Giang for the night.
Note: Quan Ba Sunday market is worth an arrangement!

Day 5: Ha Giang - Hoang Su Phi - Bac Ha ~ 209km (B, L, D)
A long but stunning scenery along the zigzag road from Ha Giang to Bac Ha will make today a little busier, some parts of the road might be difficult to travel so make sure that you depart early this day from Ha Giang to arrive to Bac Ha in time before dark. Dinner and overnight in town.
Note: Road from Ha Giang to Hoang Su Phi then Xin Man – Bac Ha can be bad and impossible to ride during the raining season, however a backup to travel to Bac Ha is already planned.

Day 6: Bac Ha - Sapa ~ 120km (L)

We have this morning free in Bac Ha to roam around (if we are lucky on Sunday for the market). In the afternoon 3 hours drive to Sapa. Your free time to visit this tourist town and overnight in town.

Day 7: Explore around Sapa, night train to Hanoi (B)

We suggest to ride down hill to a village then leave your bike there then head out for some hours of trekking to Ta Phin or Ta Van village. We will ride to Lao cai train station (1,5h) in the late afternoon, our bikes are then loaded on the train before your own dinner in Lao Cai. Our train leaves at 8.15 pm to Hanoi, arrival in Hanoi at around 5 am next morning, tour ends at your hotel.
